When you say “obsess,” I get the idea that change resulted from your own sheer willpower. Can you say more about this? Is it like the Nike ad, “Just do it”—power through, no matter what it takes? I’m intrigued, and I think I’m in agreement with you, but would love to hear more about what obsessing looks like for you.
I like that you brought up idolatry. That was the first thing that came to mind when I first read the word obsess. I think the most important thing is that we stay in step with God and then obsessing over something that we know aligns with His will and His path for us just means walking it out, taking action and committing ourselves to that. Showing up, day after day, with discipline and in obedience and prayer.
Enjoy your writing. Thank you

Good point. It sometimes feels like sheer will power, but I wouldn't dream of thinking I change and not say, “God changed me.”

That’s good.
